Tróndur í Gøtu conducts research together with the Faroe Marine Research Institute

Every year the Faroe Marine Research Institute make research on mackerel in the Faroese sea. The same research is conducted in countries around us; Norway, Iceland and Greenland and all countries try to conduct the research at the same time. The research is called; “Cruise report from the International Ecosystem Summer Survey in the Nordic Seas (IESSNS)”.

The Faroe Marine Research Institute is responsible for the research and decision has been taken to corporate with Tróndur í Gøtu, which is owned by Varðin.

14 people work on the vessels and in addition to that the project requires 4 researchers from the Faroe Marine Research Institute. The project started last week, when the equipment was delivered on the vessels. All the countries use the same equipment. The started south of the Faroe Islands and will otherwise enter both Norwegian and Icelandic sea.

The research is expected to be completed by 24th of July.
