Varðin’s Board of Directors has appointed Bogi Jacobsen as Chief Executive Officer effective by August the 1st. 2020. Mr. Jacobsen previously held the position of Chief Executive Officer of Varðin Pelagic, Varðin’s daughter company, and he has been a member of the Board of Directors since 2014.
Mr. Jacobsen has been with the company for about 20 years, he was captain of Finnur Fríði from 2003, and the CEO of Varðin Pelagic from 2012. He has been the Chairman of the Faroese Employers’ Association since 2017. Bogi Jacobsen is replacing his father Jákup Jacobsen, who has been the CEO for 35 years.
Varðin P/F was established in 1985 in the Faroese village of Gøta, and is today the largest fishing company in the Faroe Islands. Varðin’s fishing fleet consists of 4 state of the art ships equipped with seine nets, modern trawls, advanced pumps, quality inspection work stations, and superior RSW cooling systems. Varðin’s processing plant, Varðin Pelagic specialises in producing superior Atlantic mackerel, Atlantic herring, blue whiting, and capelin.
